Mike Murphy serves as the President of the Sunrise Preservation Group. Mike was born in Raleigh NC but also lived in Nashville Tennessee for a time. He credits his time spent in Nashville for his love of live music. It was his passion of live music and community that brought him to the Sunrise to help orchestrate the First Friday events. He has been part of the Sunrise ever since. When Mike is not around the Sunrise, he is either spending time with his wife, Melissa, and their 3 kids or running his downtown Southern Pines insurance business. He has a passion in trying to produce ways to connect this wonderful community.
Aimee Haley serves as the Sunrise Preservation Group's vice president. Aimee grew up with roots originally in the San Francisco Bay Area. Growing up in that area and with a family that cherished the arts, Aimee brings a profound understanding of their transformative impact on a community. With a decade-long journey at the Sunrise, initially as house manager and volunteer coordinator, she now serves as the Practice Manager for a local concierge and functional medicine practice, blending her healthcare expertise with a passion for sustaining our community's cultural heartbeat. Aimee's diverse background and unwavering dedication to providing engaging and educational entertainment will continue to make her an asset to preserving the legacy of the Sunrise Theater.
Carol Duffy has been a dedicated Moore County resident for 28 years, with the last 9 spent in Southern Pines. Her longstanding connection with The Sunrise Theater began in the late 1990s with the “Save Our Sunrise” campaign, leading her to volunteer on committees like First Friday and Sunflix, and she currently serves on the Preservation Board. Carol’s career with the CIA and later with the US Department of State Foreign Service spanned 26 years, with postings in 10 countries, including Indonesia, Belgium, Kenya, and Washington, D.C., where she supported White House advance teams on official trips. Her global experiences have instilled a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and fueled her passion for travel.
Dr. John Dempsey’s journey has been shaped by a blend of military and academic experiences. He attended Notre Dame, William & Mary, and the University of Massachusetts. As a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he has always valued service and leadership. He began his career at the College of Charleston and went on to serve as president of Belmont Abbey College and Sandhills Community College for over 40 years. His career has been dedicated to advancing education and supporting the institutions he has led.
Dr. Fallon McIver Brewington is the Vice President of Workforce Development & Corporate Partnerships at Sandhills Community College, with over 20 years in public, non-profit, and higher education. Previously CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills, she is a Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD®) and has held director roles at Communities In Schools and Fayetteville State University. She earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from NC State and holds degrees from East Carolina and NC State University. Active in her community, Fallon was named one of The Pilot’s 20 Under 40 in 2021. She is a mother of two; her daughter studies at NC A&T, and her son enjoys sports and gaming.
Originally from Raleigh, Frank Daniels and his wife Ellie moved to Southern Pines after they got married in 2015. Prior to the move, Frank was working in the Boylan Heights neighborhood of Raleigh as a glass artist, specializing in flameworked goblets and figural sculpture. In 2015, Frank began work at The Pilot in sales, first for the Moore County Telephone Directory and subsequently for the paper and PineStraw Magazine. In 2018, he joined the First Flight Agency team to handle SEO and Local Listings for clients, at the same time he began managing TicketME Sandhills. In 2022, he launched The Pilot’s audio department with the Pilot Radio and Golf Rock streaming channels and has since produced a number of podcasts. Currently, Frank is a staff writer at The Pilot, primarily covering businesses news, in addition to his role as director of audio. He and his wife still live in Southern Pines and have two boys.
Colette Bachand is an Episcopal priest serving as Chaplain and Priest-in-Charge at Penick Village in Southern Pines. She joined Penick in December of 2018 after working as a journalist
for 20 years followed by a career in ministry as a parish priest, hospice chaplain and geriatric care chaplain in Massachusetts. She has traveled the country helping equip clergy and faith
communities in care of people with dementia, offering presentations on her book, “Do This in Remembrance of Me: Spiritual Care of those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.” She lives in Pinehurst with her husband Todd Johnson. Colette spent years around theatres and performing
art centers with her two now adult daughters Bridget and Adrienne, who danced, sang, and
acted in local theatre productions for decades.
David has called Moore County his home for almost 30 years. He and his wife, Alexis, have three children; a son (Linden), and twin daughters (Millie and Charlotte). When he’s not in the office, David enjoys golfing and spending time with his family. If you find yourself needing any local recommendations, he’s your guy!

Chris Hunt serves as the Treasurer of the Sunrise Preservation Group. Chris has over 24 years of experience in the financial services industry. Chris has a passion for giving back to his community and was excited for the opportunity to serve on the Sunrise Board. In addition to serving on the Sunrise Board, Chris is an active member at his church and for other non-profit organizations within Moore County. Chris’ wife Megan and her family have been small business owners in Southern Pines for just over 50 years. Their family has been a frequent patron of Sunrise for many years. In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife, their two college aged kids, and traveling.
George Manley, Principal and Commercial Broker at Carolina Summit Group, brings over 25 years of expertise to the table, dedicated to fulfilling clients' commercial real estate requirements. Beginning his career in South Africa, George specialized in managing high-end office high-rise buildings, honing his skills in navigating intricate zoning regulations, overseeing development projects, and executing high-value property transactions. Relocating to North Carolina in 2008, he has since immersed himself in every facet of the commercial industry within Moore County, NC, contributing valuable insights and solutions to his clients.
